4月10日，莫桑比克央行发布消息称，尽管莫桑比克面临的外部需求有所改善，但国内需求和投资持续疲软，金融环境对经济的支持作用仍不明显，经济前景受到负面因素影响。为此，莫央行将基本利率从23.25下降至22.75，并表示将从今年6月开始采用新的“货币政策利率”。莫央行现行利率系央行向商业银行的借款利率，新的利率系银行间的借款利率，目前为21.75%。

截至年4月第一周，莫外汇储备超过20亿美元，可满足5.3个月的进口需求。

梅蒂卡尔对主要外币的汇率持续上涨，美元兑梅蒂卡尔的汇率从年初的1美元=71梅蒂卡尔上涨到目前的1美元=67梅蒂卡尔，南非兰特兑梅蒂卡尔的汇率由年初的1兰特=5.4梅蒂卡尔上涨到目前的1兰特=4.9梅蒂卡尔。

年3月，莫年通货膨胀率为21.6%，莫央行预计年底降低至12%。

莫内债增长迅速，由年初的亿梅蒂卡尔增加至目前的亿梅蒂卡尔。

标准银行4月12日发布消息，预测梅蒂卡尔将持续升值，年底预计达到1美元=50梅蒂卡尔。标准银行建议投资者购买莫当地债券，出售梅蒂卡尔远期合约。标准银行最新预测莫年底的通货膨胀率下调至10.4%。

分析人士认为，梅蒂卡尔升值不利于莫本国农户同进口农产品竞争。依据目前汇率，莫本地生产的玉米和大米尚有利可图，但高利率和信贷紧缩限制了农户借款进口化肥和其他农业投入。

TheBankofMozambiquecutthebaseinterestrateasmallamount,from23.25%to22.75%.Inthe10Aprilannouncement,reserverequirements(15.5%)andtheinterestpaidonthosereserves(16.25%)wereunchanged.TheBankalsoconfirmedthatfromJuneitwilluseadifferentrateasa“monetarypolicyrate”.ThecurrentrateisthetaxadejurodaFacilidadePermanentedeCedenciadeLiquidez(FPC)whichistheratethatbankspaytoborrowfromthecentralbank.ThenewratewhichwillbeappliedfromJuneisaninterbankinterestrate,taxadoMercadoMonetarioInterbancariodeMocambique(taxaMIMO),currentlysetat21.75%.

TheBankofMozambiquecontinuestobuildupreserves,whichexceeded$2bninthefirstweekofApril,equivalentto5.3monthsofimports(excludingmega-projects).

Mozambique’scurrencyhasappreciatedagainsttheUSdollarwiththeratefallingfromMT71=$1atthebeginningoftheyeartoMT67=$1lastweek.ButtheexchangeratewiththeSouthAfricanrandismostimportantbecausesomanyimports
